After lyricist Shakya Munasinghe obtained an injunction preventing popular singer Ajith Muthukumarana known as ‘Bus Ajith’ from performing the song ‘Esa Yomana Thanaka’ (which he had sung some time ago), Muthukumarana has created a new song using the same melody.
Social media users have described this move by Ajith as a brilliant ‘tit-for-tat’ response amidst the ongoing discourse regarding the song’s ownership.
For this new creation, Ajith replaced the original phrase ‘Esa Yomana Thanaka’ with the lyrics ‘Sitha Hadana Rayaka’.
Although the original song was created approximately 23 years ago, it recently gained popularity following a dance performance by a newlywed couple set to the track, which went viral on social media.
