Police sources state that the prime suspect—who had escaped while hospitalized following his arrest for the murder of an elderly couple (whose throats were slit) and the theft of gold jewelry at a shop in the Hatton-Dickoya area—has been taken into custody. He committed the aforementioned double murder in Dikoya on May 21st or a date close to it; following his initial arrest, he was hospitalized under police guard due to a sudden illness. While hospitalized, he escaped from police custody but was subsequently recaptured in the Jaffna area.
Investigations revealed that after committing the double murder, the suspect stole valuable gold jewelry belonging to the couple.
