Police sources report that the three-wheeler driver, who was wounded in a shooting incident at the ‘Kalu Palama’ in Dematagoda, has succumbed to his injuries. The sources further stated that he was already dead by the time he was admitted to the hospital.
He had come under gunfire while traveling in his three-wheeler. Police suspect that the shooting was carried out by an individual who boarded a three-wheeler under the guise of hiring it. The deceased has been identified as a 50-year-old resident of the Galle area.
Police Media Spokesperson and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wutler stated at a media briefing that two police teams have been deployed to investigate the incident.
