Another case for Namal; to appear in court again on the 16th.

Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (14) ordered the Superintendent of the Colombo Remand Prison to produce MP Namal Rajapaksa who is currently in remand custody before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on September 16.

The Attorney General’s Department has decided to name MP Namal Rajapaksa as a suspect in the money laundering case concerning alleged financial irregularities during the aircraft procurement process for SriLankan Airlines. Accordingly, MP Namal Rajapaksa is scheduled to appear in court on the 16th in connection with this case.

After reviewing the investigation files submitted by investigating officers, Additional Solicitor General and President’s Counsel Dilipa Peiris issued instructions to name Namal Rajapaksa as a suspect in the case pending before the Fort Magistrate’s Court, as well as in the case currently before the Aluthkade Chief Magistrate’s Court. Namal Rajapaksa is currently remanded in custody in connection with the Airbus deal.
