A fatal accident has occurred when a car and a train collided at an unguarded railway crossing in the Aravyal Nagar area of Kilinochchi. A 17-year-old resident girl who was travelling in the car died on the spot.
The intercity train running from Mount Lavinia to Kankesanthurai met with this accident. Police sources say that a resident of Selvanagar area has died in the accident.
Another girl aged 9 and 16 and a child who were travelling in the car have been admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital with injuries. They are members of the same family.
The father who was driving the car and the mother who was travelling in it were not injured in the accident.
