Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he could end his playing career at the end of this season.
Speaking in an interview with Vogue magazine, Ronaldo said that this could be his final year as a footballer. “2026 is very likely to be my last year as a footballer. I want to leave behind a lot of great memories,” Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo, who has scored 976 goals in his career, is just 24 goals away from reaching the 1,000-goal milestone.
A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo made his senior debut for Sporting in 2002 and has since gone on to play for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He currently plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. This season, he is aiming to reach the 1,000-goal milestone for Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo is also the all-time leading scorer in international football. He has scored 146 goals in international matches.
