A protest was held in Jaffna today demanding justice for the murdered journalists and impartial and credible investigations into the killings of journalists, attacks on them and acts of violence against media institutions.
The protest, which took place in front of the Jaffna District Secretariat, was organized by members of the Jaffna Press Club and coincided with the two-day visit of Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne, who arrived today to attend several official functions.
As part of this visit, the Deputy Minister was also scheduled to attend a seminar for journalists at the Jaffna District Secretariat. However, it is reported that members of the Jaffna Press Club boycotted the event.
