Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne fined Rs. 2,500 for failing to prevent a road accident.

Public Security Ministry Secretary and retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne pleaded guilty to one of the charges in the road accident case filed against him in court today.

He has pleaded guilty to the charge of ‘failing to prevent a road accident’ in the case filed in connection with a road accident that occurred on the Wellawatte Marine Drive in 2023. Subsequently, Mount Lavinia Magistrate Kanchana Neranjala Silva reportedly imposed a fine of Rs. 2,500 on him.

Two charges of reckless driving and drunk driving have been filed in this case and the magistrate ordered the case to be recalled on August 20 to decide on the further legal action to be taken regarding these charges.
