Journalists are being sensitized on climate change adaptation and communication.

An awareness seminar targeting journalists on the theme ”Current Challenges Facing Sri Lanka on Climate Change Adaptation and Communication” organized by the Sri Lanka Chapter of the South Asian Journalists’ Forum on Climate Change was held at the Dilma Center, Maligawatte this morning.

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Saman Senaweera of the University of Melbourne, Australia. The discussion that followed was attended by Professor Cyril Wijesundara of the Hanthana Institute of fundamantal Studies, Dr. Ajith Gunawardena, Director of the Central Environmental Authority, Ravindranath Dambare, Lawyer of the Environmental Justice Center, and Prithika Jayakody, Meteorologist.

Many important issues were discussed here, including the importance of educating the community about climate change and the challenges Sri Lanka faces as a country in the face of climate change.
