The director of the Horana – Anguruwatota Elders’ Home, who was arrested in connection with the fire that broke out at the home, has been remanded until the 11th. This order was given when he was produced before the Horana Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.
There were 72 elderly residents staying at this elderly home called Senehase Nawathena and it is reported that 12 people have died in the fire that broke out yesterday (03) afternoon.
The fire has now been extinguished after a joint effort by relief services and local residents. The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.
Horana Police are conducting further investigations.
