It has been reported that the High Court staff have observed that the signature that former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal placed on the bail bond yesterday (18) after he was granted bail in a bribery case filed before the Colombo Three-Judge High Court is completely different from his well-known signature that appears on the currency notes issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
The court officials immediately inquired about this from the accused former Central Bank Governor. In response, he said that the currency notes show his name, not his signature. He said that his normal official signature was used for the bail application.
With this explanation from the former Central Bank Governor, the problematic situation faced by the court staff was resolved and he was then allowed to leave the court premises after successfully completing the relevant bail paperwork.
