Tourism revenue declines.

The Central Bank reports that the total number of foreign tourists who visited Sri Lanka during the period from January to April 2026 is 876,277. The total tourism earnings earned during that period are US$ 1,111 million, the reports say.

In the same period in 2025, 896,884 tourists visited Sri Lanka and the amount of money earned was US$ 1,379 million. Accordingly, tourist arrivals have decreased by 2.3% in the first quarter of 2026, and tourism earnings have decreased by 19.4%. Tourism revenue alone has decreased by 38.8% in April 2026.
