An emergency meeting of the Sri Lanka Cricket Executive Committee will be held today.

An emergency meeting of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board is scheduled to be held today. The ‘Dinamina’ newspaper reports that all members will resign from their positions and discuss the possibility of an emergency cricket election.

The term of office of the current executive committee officers, including Shammi Silva, who was elected as the chairman in the election held last year, is in effect until next year.

If the current cricket board chairman Shammi Silva and the cricket executive committee resign, a short-term interim management committee is scheduled to be appointed to administer Sri Lanka Cricket, and the interim management committee should convene a special general meeting and appoint an election committee to organize the upcoming Sri Lanka Cricket election.

The current President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva, was first elected by a majority vote of the cricket member associations in February 2019. In the three subsequent cricket elections, Shammi Silva was elected to the position of Cricket President three times with the consent of the majority of the associations.
