New generation actress Harshi Rasanga has been arrested by the Thalangama Police. It is reported that she was arrested on charges of receiving a gold necklace worth over Rs. 9 lakh and not returning it and pawning it without the knowledge of the owner.
Police say that she had pawned the necklace at a pawn shop in Battaramulla and obtained a sum of Rs. 6 lakh. Based on a complaint received from the owner, the Thalangama Police’s Various Complaints Division has arrested Harshi Rasanga and produced him before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court.
The lawyer appearing for the suspect Harshi Rasanga stated that the necklace had been pawned by his client and that it was possible to salvage it and return it to the owner.
The Acting Magistrate then ordered the suspect to be released on bail on two sureties of Rs. 5 lakh each.
The Magistrate ordered that the gold necklace that had been pawned be recovered and handed over to the Thalangama Police Station and then produced before the court at the next hearing. The case is scheduled to be heard again on April 22.
Harshi Rasanga has also won the Emerging Actress Award at the 2023 Sumathi Awards.
