It has been decided to appoint five officers from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to the committee appointed to monitor the distribution of essential commodities. They will be tasked with examining fuel-related issues covering all ministries and intervening as appropriate.
These officers will examine fuel-related issues arising in institutions under each ministry and coordinate with the CPC to provide solutions.
These matters were discussed at a meeting of the committee appointed to monitor the distribution of essential commodities held at the Presidential Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake.
It was revealed that industrialists have submitted requests stating that the current fuel quota allocated for vehicles to distribute their products across the country is not sufficient.
It was discussed that if these issues are not resolved, the shortage of goods in the market may increase and the public may face significant difficulties during the festive season.
