North Korea has fired several ballistic missiles from its west coast as the US and South Korean forces conduct their annual military exercises, Al Jazeera reported.
A statement from Japan’s Defense Ministry said the missiles were fired from a northeasterly direction at around 1:34 p.m. local time (04:34 GMT).
Japan estimates the missiles reached a maximum altitude of 80 kilometers (50 miles) and landed near the east coast of the Korean peninsula, outside Tokyo’s exclusive economic zone. However, there were no reports of damage to nearby aircraft or ships.
