84 bodies to Karapitiya

The Sri Lanka Navy says that the bodies of 84 people who were on board the Iranian ship that was sunk by a US submarine in the waters off Sri Lanka have been recovered.

The search for the missing is ongoing and the bodies that have been found are currently being brought to the Karapitiya Hospital, the report said.

The US Secretary of Defense officially announced yesterday afternoon that the Iranian Navy ship ‘IRIS Dena’ was sunk by a torpedo attack launched by its submarine in the deep waters southwest of Sri Lanka.

The destroyed ship, with a crew of 180, was reportedly returning to Iran after participating in the International Naval Fleet Review exercise in Visakhapatnam, India.
