Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath said that JICA has not yet given its final approval for the light rail (LRT) that was scheduled to be implemented in Colombo.
Speaking at the media briefing held today (17) to announce cabinet decisions, he said that JICA has informed that other projects that have already been initiated will first be successfully implemented and their progress will be evaluated before making further decisions.
“Multiple transport hubs are being built. We have discussed the implementation of the LRT project. A final agreement has not been received from JICA yet. JICA has informed us that the next decision will be taken based on the progress of the implementation of these projects,” the Minister said.
