The General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examination scheduled to be held in the year 2025 will begin today (17).
451,463 candidates are scheduled to appear for the Ordinary Level Examination this year, of which 382,249 are school candidates.
69,214 private candidates are appearing for the Ordinary Level Examination this year.
The examination is scheduled to be held at 3545 examination centers across the island, and 531 coordination centers and 33 regional assembly centers have been established for the examination.
Commissioner General of Examinations A. K. S. Indika Kumari Liyanage has issued a notice to all examination candidates to pay special attention to the schedule of the 2025 (2026) GCE Ordinary Level Examination.
Speaking at a media briefing to inform the public about the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level examination, she further stated that attention should be paid only to the schedule on the official website and official Facebook account of the Sri Lanka Examinations Department.
Ms. Indika Kumari Liyanage further stated that since the subject schedule of the Ordinary Level examination this year has been changed to the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth days compared to last year, only the correct schedule should be used. She also emphasized that every candidate should carry their identity card until the end of the examination.
For this, school candidates can use their national identity card, driver’s license or foreign passport, while private candidates can use a temporary identity card certified by the Grama Niladhari with two photographs, if desired, the Commissioner General of Examinations informs.
