A mysteriously abandoned car is found

The Thihagoda Police have taken into custody a suspicious luxury car that was left unlocked near the 140 km mark between Aparakka and Beliatta on the Southern Expressway.

Following a tip-off from the Road Development Authority, the Aparakka Expressway Traffic Police officers found the car last night and handed it over to the Thihagoda Police for further investigation.

The ticket inside the car revealed that it had entered from the Dodangoda entrance and was heading towards Mattala.

Initial investigations conducted based on its registration number revealed that a person in the Ratnapura area also owns a car with the same registration number, the police said.

Although the registration numbers of that car and this car are the same, the engine numbers are different.

This car is maroon in color, while the Ratnapura car is white in color.

After the abandoned car was brought to the Thihagoda Police Station, the police said that upon opening the doors and conducting investigations, a diary and a certificate from a famous college in the Kurunegala area were found on the seat next to the front driver’s seat.

During the investigations conducted based on a photocopy of an identity card found in the diary, it was found that the name and address of a person in the Pothuhera area were mentioned, and the Pothuhera Police have been informed about that address to conduct investigations.

It has been revealed that the person had left home this morning (25).

Accordingly, this car and the Ratnapura car will be referred to the Government Motor Vehicle Analyst for further investigations to find out who the regular car belongs to.
