A controversial situation has arisen regarding the news that the bridge connecting Laggala and Moragahakanda was damaged due to the prevailing bad weather conditions.
A video with close-up photos released recently confirms that the huge flood that came with the opening of the sluice gates of the Moragahakanda reservoir has caused a part of the bank at one end of the bridge to be detached from the land. Accordingly, it is clear that one of the banks where the bridge was connected to the land was eroded by the floodwaters and the water flow widened, causing the bridge to separate from the land at that end.
