6 provinces at risk of flash floods with rainfall exceeding 200 mm

The Irrigation Department has warned that there is a risk of flash floods as the water levels of almost all the major rivers are at a very high level.

Issuing a statement, the Department has stated that due to the low pressure area developing near the South Andaman Sea area, rainfall exceeding 200 mm is possible in 6 provinces of the island.

Accordingly, this risk exists in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Southern, Uva and Western provinces.

Accordingly, the Irrigation Department warns the people residing in the low-lying valleys of all rivers and people traveling through those areas to be very careful as there is a risk of flooding in the above-mentioned provinces from today (25) to Sunday, November 30.
