The Government Medical Officers’ Association has launched an island-wide strike starting tomorrow (31) at 8.00 am, its media spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said.
Commenting further on this, he said that all hospitals in the island will participate in this, and accordingly, all patient treatment activities will be disrupted tomorrow.
Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, who spoke further, said:
“These activities are being carried out amidst a number of serious problems in the health system. There is a shortage of doctors, there are a number of staff problems. Also, the problems of facilities provided to patients, the shortage of medicines and equipment are worsening day by day. These activities are being carried out amidst those problems. In addition, the Ministry of Health is continuously harassing doctors.”
