The price of a unit of electricity generated from solar power will increase to Rs. 45.

The government has approved the introduction of a time-based tariff for battery energy storage systems (BESS) installed with solar panels.

This will encourage solar power producers to install battery energy storage systems. This will allow them to store excess electricity generated during the day. The stored electricity will be released to the national grid during the evening hours of high demand, i.e. from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

The new tariff for battery energy storage systems (BESS) has been set at Rs. 45.80 per unit.

This approach will improve the stability of the power system and will significantly reduce thermal power generation. This will reduce the use of fossil fuels for electricity generation.
