The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (2) ordered the remand of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Chief Security Officer Neville Wanniarachchi until the 17th of this month, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission.
He was summoned to the Bribery or Corruption Prevention Commission to record a statement and was arrested and produced before the Magistrate’s Court.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama issued this order after considering the facts presented by Bribery Commission officials and the suspect’s lawyers.
He was arrested on charges of failing to disclose the manner in which he acquired assets and property worth over Rs. 28 million.
Neville Wanniarachchi, a retired army colonel, served as the former President’s chief security officer for a long time.
