Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Namal Rajapaksa has expressed his opposition to the government’s decision to promote a tourism campaign targeting the LGBTIQ community.
The MP stressed that Sri Lanka’s natural beauty and cultural heritage are enough to attract tourists and that there is no need to highlight sexual orientation or gender issues for that.
“Our tourism promotion should not be based on sexual orientation or gender issues. Our heritage, regardless of their sexual preferences, is enough to attract tourists from all over the world,” he said.
Mr. Rajapaksa further said, “We do not need to focus on gender identity to attract tourists.”
