The Free Trade Zones and General Employees Association has protested against the US tariff policy.
The protest was held in front of the main entrance of the Katunayake Free Trade Zone this afternoon (13), our correspondent said.
The protestors say that the administration of the institutions has taken steps to curtail the privileges that garment workers have been enjoying for many years due to the US decision to increase tariffs.
They point out that although they have requested the government to provide an opportunity to discuss the problems faced by the workers with the increase in tariffs, no response has been received so far.
