Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa left his official residence in Wijerama at around 1.15 pm today (11) for the Carlton House in Tangalle. This was after the official residences provided to former presidents had to be handed over to the government as per the provisions of the “Presidents’ Rights Removal” Act.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had been using the official residence until today, and according to the Act passed yesterday (10), he too lost that privilege.
Meanwhile, it is reported that former President Chandrika is also preparing to leave her official residence, and former President Maithripala Sirisena has also left his residence.
