The Court of Appeal today (10) ordered the writ petition filed seeking an interim injunction preventing former Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela from acting as the Acting Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy to be taken up on the 23rd of this month.
This petition was filed by Saliya Prasad Nandasiri, a resident of Gampola. The petitioner, who points out that various allegations of corruption and irregularities have been made against the former Diyawadana Nilame, states in his petition that his appointment to the relevant position in the circumstances is against the law and is contrary to various provisions of the Vihara and Devalagam Act.
The Commissioner for Buddhist Affairs, former Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela and a group of others have been named as respondents in this petition.
