Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has issued a statement regarding the discovery of raw materials for drug production from the land of Sampath Manamperi, a local government member of the party.
The statement issued under the letterhead of the SLPP reads as follows:
An allegation has been made against a person named Sampath Manamperi, a resident of Angunakolapelessa Thalawa, who was a member of our party, for possessing raw materials used for drug production.
Our party never follows any lenient policy towards those who face such allegations and accordingly, his party membership was banned with immediate effect.
However, the allegations leveled against him are very serious and we as a party hope that the investigations into the allegations against him will be concluded very soon and the truth will be revealed to the public.
