The majority of those arrested for taking bribes in the past seven months are police officers.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption says that 49 individuals have been arrested in connection with bribery incidents in the first 07 months of this year.

They point out that 3,937 complaints have been received by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption during the relevant period and 72 raids have been conducted from those complaints and 39 of them have been successful.

The largest number of individuals arrested has been from the Police Department, with 17 police officers being arrested there.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption stated that suspects have also been arrested from government institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, Department of Immigration and Emigration, Sri Lanka Transport Board, and Divisional Secretariats.
