The Ministry of Health has initiated an investigation into the statements made to the media by Colombo National Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Rukshan Bellana regarding former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The investigations will be conducted by the Ministry’s Investigation Unit.
Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni stated on the 27th that a disciplinary investigation will be conducted against him for disclosing information to the media regarding Ranil Wickremesinghe’s health condition.
He stated that as a Deputy Director of the National Hospital, Dr. Bellana has no right to issue such statements to the media and that some of the information he presents is incorrect.
Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni further pointed out that some of Rukshan Bellana’s actions as a public official are inappropriate and his behavior is contrary to medical ethics and laws.
