A fatal accident occurred this morning (28) when a crane collided with several other vehicles at the Kanatta Junction in Borella. One person died and several others were injured. The deceased in the accident is a 62-year-old resident of Athurugiriya.
Seven people who were injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Two police officers are among the injured, the Police Media Division says.
This morning, a crane moving from Rajagiriya towards Bauddhaloka Mawatha collided with 6 motorcycles and 3 cars parked near the traffic lights at the Kanatta Roundabout.
The driver of the crane, who was arrested in connection with the accident, has been found to have consumed cannabis, the police say. This was revealed during the medical examination conducted on the person in question.
