Frontline Party’s plan to build an opposition outside Parliament

Frontline Socialist Party Education Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda says that strengthening an opposition inside Parliament will not yield any results, except by creating an opposition outside Parliament.

Speaking to the media yesterday (19), he stated that the attempt to strengthen the opposition was like trying to wake a corpse.

“There is no opposition. Since there is no opposition, there is no talk of strengthening it. Because if there is an opposition, when an agreement is signed with India, the so-called opposition leader would not go and shake hands with the religious Modi and gift him a picture of the Tigers. If there was an opposition, Namal Rajapaksa would not hold seminars with Modi in India, calling it Rising Bharat.

Therefore, unless the people form an opposition outside Parliament, there is no point in strengthening the opposition inside Parliament. It is like trying to resurrect a corpse. It is already dead. Now what we really need to do is not let it rot and keep it, but rather put it in a coffin and bury it.”
