All of us who are in institutions that were established to develop the people have developed. But the people have been lost, says Agriculture Minister K.D. Lalkantha. Addressing a function, he said:
“If you look at the people sitting on that side now and the people sitting on this side, do you see a difference in the standard of living? You do.
But the Department of Agriculture, the Divisional Secretary and others, the Head of the Irrigation Department, the Director General, all of us have been appointed to solve the problems of the people. The people on this side have always been there to solve the problems of the people on that side. That is true.
But the problems of a group of people on this side have been solved to a considerable extent. The problems on this side are the same. Look at the country, and
We come in vehicles. Now, look at the clothes we wear, look at the shoes we wear, you know these glasses. When I put these on, I can see clearly.
Looking at all this, what has happened is that all of us who are in institutions that were established to develop the people have been developed, but the people have been slost .”
