Rajitha Missing

The Bribery Commission informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (11) that former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne had also disconnected his phone and left his house.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kakunawela recently stated that the Bribery Commission has the authority to arrest Rajitha Senaratne, who has been named as a suspect in the incident of causing a loss of over Rs. 2.62 billion to the government by handing over a sand mining project at the Kirinda Fisheries Harbour to a Korean company.

The Bribery Commission has informed the former minister to give a statement in connection with this investigation. However, the Bribery Commission says that he has been continuously avoiding giving such statements.

Although a medical report stating that former Minister Rajitha Senaratne is suffering from an illness was submitted to the Bribery Commission through a lawyer, the Bribery Commission officials informed the court that there is no legal basis for it,
