The Sri Lanka Electricity Board (SLE) has achieved 70% of electricity generation from renewable energy by June 2025, the Sri Lanka Electricity Board (SLE) said.
For the first time since the early 1990s, the SLE has achieved 70% of its total electricity generation from renewable energy sources by this month.
The SLE also said that the country’s electricity supply is almost 100% hydropower-based, marking a departure from the early policy of hybrid hydropower and the subsequent policy of hybrid hydropower-thermal power.
