Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent Mohan Karunaratne has been placed on compulsory leave.
He was arrested on charges of abetting the release of a prisoner convicted of fraud and corruption by submitting a document bearing his signature to the Anuradhapura High Court stating that the President had granted a general pardon on the occasion of Vesak.
Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent Mohan Karunaratne, who was arrested in connection with the investigation into the incident, was remanded until June 11th and was released on strict bail conditions yesterday
