Israel has launched a series of airstrikes on several locations including the capital Tehran in Iran. They have termed these attacks as ‘attacks to cripple the enemy’.
Iran will definitely respond to this attack, and accordingly, Israel has taken steps to declare a state of emergency in the country, suspend all services including schools, and ban gatherings.
Several Iranian media outlets have also confirmed that the commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Hossein Salami was killed in a series of airstrikes carried out by Israel on Iran. Accordingly, foreign media reports that General Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed as the new commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to take over the position. Israel has carried out these attacks using IAF jets.
Iranian state media has also confirmed that in addition to the IRGC commander, high-ranking military leaders and nuclear scientists are among the dead.
Commenting on the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emphasized that his plan is to attack Iran for as long as necessary.
He also emphasized that this is only the first attack. Netanyahu has further stated that this attack was carried out to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and thereby protect its people.
However, the United States has said that it did not aid or abet the attack in any way.
