Second macaw stolen from Dehiwala Zoo .

A blue-and-yellow macaw parrot worth over Rs. 500,000 has been stolen from a cage at the Dehiwala National Zoo.

The theft took place on the night of the 4th and was recorded on a security camera installed in a shop near the zoo.

The cage where the macaw parrots are kept has 30 blue-and-yellow macaw parrots, and one of them has been stolen.

The cage keeper noticed that the safety lock installed to protect the cage had been broken the next morning when he went to open it for duty with the keys and later informed the higher-ups of the zoo.

During a subsequent inspection, the officers found that one blue-and-yellow macaw parrot from the cage was missing. Later, the management of the facility filed a complaint with the Dehiwala Police through a security officer.

On August 8, 2021, a blue-and-yellow macaw parrot kept in the same cage went missing and was later found in a house in the Ratmalana area.
