Plantation Industries Minister Samantha Vidyaratne states that some control and regulation is required for all other sectors as well as for the media. However, he also states that it is not a suppression of the media at all.
Accordingly, he said that necessary steps will be taken in consultation with the relevant parties in this regard.
He said that some regulatory measures are needed, especially for social media, and that such methods are being used in the world.
He said this while expressing his views to the media after a ceremony.
