Team Sri Lanka continues to bring glory to the nation with outstanding performances in Thailand.Sri Lanka is making headlines at the International Thai Martial Arts Festival, where our national team has already secured an impressive six medals 3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 3 Bronze competing against over 50 countries from across the globe.The Sri Lankan contingent has not only demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication but also upheld the spirit of martial arts at this prestigious event. With 4 Final matches and 1 Semi-Final scheduled for today, hopes remain high as the team fights for further honors on the international stage.
Leading the movement is Mr. Dushantha Perera, a pioneering figure in Sri Lankan martial arts. He is a key representative of WMBF, WMO, UBF, and KMA, and notably the founder of Sri Lanka’s first official Muaythai Federation, established under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports. His vision and leadership have laid the foundation for Sri Lanka’s growing presence in global combat sports.
The success of the team is also a reflection of the hard work and expertise of coaches Nuwan Dananjaya, Yasas Vithanage, and Chamila Nishantha, who have been instrumental in training and preparing the athletes for competition at this level.
Adding to the country’s pride, Mr. Amarathunga Athapaththu is representing Sri Lanka as an international referee, further cementing our nation’s active role in global martial arts governance.
