Deputy Minister and Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala said in a discussion with Independent Television that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is trying to gain power in the Colombo Municipal Council by uniting the defeated groups.
The Deputy Minister explained the situation there as follows.
”We said that we will not seek support from political parties as parties. Among these groups, there are people who love to build this country and build this city. It is fair that 11 of those people come to us and build this country. The independent candidates who won have already spoken to us more than those 11.
Therefore, we say to the opposition, do not work hard for the Samagi Jana Balavegaya to establish power. The progressive people among the opposition groups have already come to us. That is why the opposition has been talking so much. “
