The Matara Magistrate today (21) ordered former IGP Deshabandhu Tennakoon, who is currently suspended, to appear before the court on the 25th.
The Magistrate issued this order following a presentation made to the court by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Criminal Investigation Department had today requested that an order be issued for Deshabandhu Tennakoon to appear in court as Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Department Dileepa Peers is scheduled to present evidence regarding Deshabandhu Tennakoon leaving the Matara Magistrate’s Court in a vehicle in defiance of court orders.
