Cabinet Spokesperson and Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said that the wife of Inspector General of Police Deshabandhu Tennakoon will not be allowed to hinder the supply of medicines at the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
He said this in response to a media inquiry regarding the situation that has arisen due to Deshabandhu Tennakoon’s wife taking leave and not reporting for work for several days.
“She once took leave as an officer of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation. She reported for work and took leave again. According to the current system, legal action cannot be taken against her. A legal officer is being deployed to ensure that the activities of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation are not disrupted due to her absence. Therefore, Deshabandhu’s wife will not be allowed to hinder the supply of medicines,” he said.
