The Election Commission has stated that nominations for the Local Government Elections will be accepted from today (17) until 12 noon on the 20th.
The acceptance of nominations for 336 Local Governments will commence from today and the election date is scheduled to be announced after the acceptance of nominations is completed.
Meanwhile, the acceptance of postal vote applications for the Local Government Elections is scheduled to end at 12 midnight today.
The Election Commission has advised eligible candidates who have not yet applied to submit their postal vote applications to the District Election Office in the district where their institution is located, rather than submitting them through the post.
The Election Commission requested from all candidates to submit their nominations in a manner that does not hinder the O/L examinations which are starting today.
