Canadian High Commissioner Eric Walsh has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Foreign Minister Ali Sabri.
It is reported that the Canadian Prime Minister has made this call to officially protest the accusations of genocide against Sri Lanka. The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the statement issued by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on May 18 is totally condemned and Sri Lanka rejects it. It has been said there.
Minister Sabri has stated here that this statement with a political bias is a controversial statement and it was issued for the internal political interests of Canada. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has said that Sri Lanka strongly rejects this baseless allegation of ‘genocide’ which is said to have taken place in the midst of the terrorist war that the LTTE has led for almost three decades.
