A person claiming to be a private secretary to a minister in the current government is illegally residing in a Grade I house in Colombo 7 belonging to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the port trade unions allege.
It is alleged that this house, which can only be provided to the highest-ranking officials of the Ports Authority, has been allocated to the private secretary as an emergency.
The trade union leaders, who point out that the relevant person has no right to stay there since the minister in charge is not currently in the official house, also allege that the house was provided to the person without the approval of the Ports Authority’s Housing Committee.
