Urgent discussion with President needed .GMOA

The Government Medical Officers Association says that the 2025 budget does not adequately address the plight of medical professionals and the medical service. Accordingly, the association has reportedly requested an urgent discussion with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to discuss the current state of affairs.

The association has also warned that it will resort to industrial action if the situation is not resolved satisfactorily.

According to the new salary increment, the basic salary has been increased in three stages and the overtime and leave payments of medical officers will be calculated from the total salary increment.

The Government Medical Officers Association’s media spokesperson, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, says that although the government’s decision to increase the basic salaries of public servants is good, there are some shortcomings in the document.

He also said that the hourly additional duty allowance of doctors has been reduced from 80/1 to 120/1. he says.
