In line with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme, the renovation of the Ilukowita Primary School, Hokandara, commenced yesterday (20th February) marking the commencement of the national programme to renovate 1000 schools across the island. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
As another phase of the project, the Army’s contribution to improving educational infrastructure was highlighted by the donation of construction materials and electrical equipment to the Principal of the school.
The Commander, Security Forces – West, Major General Dinesh Udugama and the Adjutant General of the Army, Major General Nilantha Premaratne, along with senior officers, government officials, teachers, parents and school students, were present on the occasion.
